3 found dead in suspected Scottsdale murder-suicide were dad, mom and teen daughter
Scottsdale police have confirmed that the three people recently found shot dead in a suspected murder-suicide were a family.
The victims were identified as Tod Lonergan, 51, Lisa Lonergan, 46, and their 15-year-old daughter, Sophia Lonergan. Their remains were discovered about 10 a.m. on March 26 at a home near Indian Bend Road and Via De La Sendero during a welfare check. After unsuccessful attempts to make contact, officers found two bodies in the backyard and a third inside the house. All three had sustained gunshot wounds, police said.
Scottsdale police spokeswoman Sgt. Alisson Sempsis confirmed to The Arizona Republic that the three were a husband, wife and daughter.
Police stated that the welfare check was requested by a concerned coworker after an individual failed to show up for work and did not respond.
A cause of death will be determined by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
