The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said its members were assisting firefighting teams in battling the wildfires raging in the Jerusalem hills on Thursday, May 1, as the Fire and Rescue Service declared the fires under control after two days.
Footage here released by the IDF shows firefighting teams spraying water on the wildfires in the region.
The Fire and Rescue Service said on Thursday that “after strenuous activity by all forces in the field, the large fire that broke out in the Jerusalem hills was declared under control.”
It added that fire services would “gradually” start leaving the areas affected.
