  • Zenith has unveiled a new Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar featuring a natural lapis lazuli dial with golden pyrite inclusions.

Blue has long been Zenith’s signature colour. Not just for aesthetics, but for symbolism. When Georges Favre-Jacot named his brand in 1865, he was staring out at the night sky, looking out to the elusive zenith, or the highest point a star can reach.

Over time, this fabled moniker reflected the Swiss brand’s enduring mission statement for mechanical excellence, with its revered movements finding their place within their own luxury timepieces, as well as some of the world’s most sought-after novelties.

Now, in 2025, the manufacture’s cosmic link takes on a new form with the new Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar Lapis Lazuli.

A Complete Calendar Chronograph With 1960s DNA

At a glance, this Chronomaster may look like a vintage piece, and that’s entirely intentional. The 38mm case takes direct inspiration from the iconic A386, a 1969 reference that helped define the El Primero era. Tapered lugs, pump pushers and a box-shaped sapphire crystal reinforce the retro design, while modern finishing like brushed stainless steel and rhodium-plated hands give the new Zenith a contemporary edge.

The new dial is crafted from genuine lapis lazuli, flecked with natural golden pyrite inclusions that resemble a starry sky. No two dials are alike, resulting in a dress watch that reads like a unique piece of the night’s sky, perfectly aligned with Zenith’s cosmic identity.

Functionally, the watch displays the day, date, month, and moon phase, with all elements arranged symmetrically across the dial. The moonphase is embedded in the chronograph’s minute counter at 6 o’clock, while the day and month sit just above the two subdials at 11 and 2. Even the date placement, sitting neatly at 4:30, is integrates seamlessly with the chronograph layout.

High-Frequency Performance Meets A Celestial Dial

Inside, the watch runs on the El Primero 3610 calibre, a modernised version of the original high-frequency chronograph movement that made Zenith famous. This version tracks 1/10th of a second, with the central chronograph hand completing a full sweep of the dial every 10 seconds. It also includes a stop-seconds mechanism and delivers a solid 60-hour power reserve.

Turn the watch over and you can see a blue column wheel through the piece’s sapphire case back, along with an openworked rotor engraved with Zenith’s five-pointed star. It’s a movement that performs true to its name, but with some contemporary quirks.

Priced at $35,100 AUD, the Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar Lapis Lazuli is available now through Zenith boutiques, the brand’s official website, and authorised retailers worldwide.
