Ai16z Sheds Andreessen Horowitz Link, Rebrands as ElizaOS – CryptoMode

After IT venture capital company Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) expressed worries about brand confusion, AI decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) ai16z has rebranded to become ElizaOS.

Shaw Walters, the creator of Eliza Labs, announced the rebranding via X, confirming that the extensive rebranding campaign is part of the firm’s efforts to expand across different nations, develop its core technology, and create a wonderful community of builders.

The project began in October 2024 as a playful reference under the name ai16z, generating $75,000 and creating an autonomous investor. Walters stated that the company has quickly expanded to become one of the largest projects in the space because of its outstanding contributors.

In addition, the rebrand removed a mistaken identity with Horowitz, as it had no relation to the AI token. Chris Dixon, managing partner of a16z, confirmed in a recent interview that they requested a name change after several mix-ups between the names.

AI16Z is Now ElizaOS

ElizaOS is a decentralized venture capital DAO that self-governing AI agents manage. Earlier this month, Eliza Labs launched a platform of the same name, built on Solana for creating and controlling AI simulations and agents.

Walters continued on X, saying the ElizaOS rebrand opens doors to partnering with major players ready to leverage their innovative tech. He said the group is currently working on Eliza v2, which he described as “the most feature-rich agent platform ever created.”

According to Walters, a DAO vote will determine any future changes to the ai16z ticker; hence, it will remain the same for now.

According to CoinGecko, the token’s price has dropped by 4.2% to $0.6167 over the last day and 49.6% in the last seven days. Due to the poor performance of AI-related assets, the broader AI token market has also declined, dropping 3.5% to $37 billion.
