Big Comic Arts Auctions His 2019 Rare NFT Collection

In a February 12 blog post, Jakes John, the legendary non-fungible token artist professional known as Big Comic Art, confirmed plans to auction his iconic Legacy Digital Artwork this weekend. Big Comic Art will auction his NFT collection this Friday, February 14, 2025, on the OpenSea NFT marketplace. This rare NFT collection will sell for 420 ETH, equivalent to over $1 million.

Bic Comic Art is one of the first crypto artists to join the non-fungible token market in its infancy in 2019. The legendary NFT artist has created several NFT collections, including the Big Comic NFT Collection, Legacy Digital Artwork, Asiaโ€™s Revenge, and Portrait of Satoshi Nakamoto. He is also the brainchild behind Say it Again, Masked and the Bitcoin Girl NFT collection, which are all available on the SuperRare NFT market platform.

Unlike JPEGs, NFT collections such as the Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, and CryptoPunks, which came into the NFT market in 2021 and took over the NFT show, digital art NFTs created in 2019, are significant in value for several reasons. Being among the first digital artworks tokenized on blockchain platforms like Ethereum, these NFT artworks represent the pioneering phase of digital art in blockchain technology. historians value these NFTs for their role in shaping the digital art market.

Why Are 2019 NFTs Highly Valued?

Itโ€™s also worth noting that many of the NFT collections created in 2019ย  were produced in a limited set or even as one-of-one artworks, inherently increasing their value due to scarcity. At the time, each NFT featured a unique digital signature, ensuring authenticity and ownership, which added more value to it over time, especially as the technology and community around crypto and NFTs continued to expand.

Moreover, the 2019 NFTs often captured the expressions of the late 2010s, including themes, styles, and the transition to digital mediums for artistic expression. Due to this aspect, digital artists who dived into the NFT market at the time, like Beeple, have since gained massive recognition, and their early works are now seen as valuable for their artistic merit and historical significance in the digital art movement. Beeple minted his first NFT on Oct 30, 2020.

Despite holding such an iconic, non-fungible token artwork in the NFT market history, the NFT artist Big Comic Art has been overwhelmed by the Valentine agape love and decided to release his artwork to the new owner. The highly anticipated Valentineโ€™s Day is an annual event celebrated by exchanging cards and gifts and spending time with loved ones. As a gesture of generosity this yearโ€™s Valentineโ€™s Day, the legendary NFT artist will split the proceeds with all 20 AGAPE artists upon sale.
