BNB Chain Completes Lorentz Testnet Hard Fork Ahead of Mainnet Upgrade
- BNB Chain completed the Lorentz hard fork today to improve the network’s efficiency.
- Mainnet upgrades are scheduled for later this month, while the Maxwell upgrade takes place in June.
BNB Chain successfully completed the Lorentz testnet hard fork today. It improves the network’s efficiency and ensures seamless performance. The blockchain has detailed its upcoming upgrades in its 2025 roadmap, further improving the network’s scalability and performance.
BNB Chain announced the completion of Lorentz testnet hardforks on its official X account yesterday. The post also mentioned the performance of opBNB and BSC testnet block times after the hard fork. While opBNB is running at 0.5s block times, the BSC testnet is running at 1.5s block times.
The Lorentz hardfork improves block processing time with smooth performance. As the testnet upgrade is done, the network is now ready for the mainnet upgrade. opBNB mainnet upgrade is scheduled to take place on April 21 at 3:00 am UTC, while the BSC mainnet upgrade will take place on April 29 at 5:05 am UTC.
BNB Chain Sticks to Its 2025 Roadmap
BNB Chain revealed its 2025 roadmap earlier this year. It includes a series of upgrades to the BNB Chain to improve network’s overall performance. The following are the noteworthy upgrades of the network.
- Pascal Upgrade – It aims to improve transaction speed and scalability. It was released in March 2025.
- Lorentz Upgrade – It improves network responsiveness by introducing faster block times. It will complete the mainnet upgrade this month.
- Maxwell Upgrade – It further improves the network performance and decreases block time to 0.75 seconds.
The BNB Chain Lorentz testnet upgrade completion announcement couldn’t make a significant impact on the market price of the BNB coin. BNB Coin is trading at $584.87 with a slight increase of 2.68% at press time in the last 24 hours. On the other hand, the 24-hour trading volume decreased by 26%.
