Canadian man charged with soliciting minor in Frederick County

FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A Canadian man was arrested on Oct. 21 for allegedly arranging to meet a minor for sexual activity in Frederick, according to the Frederick Police Department.

Police said Mark Douglas Pridgeon, 49, was charged with three counts of sexual solicitation of a minor.

Officers said Pridgeon had traveled to the U.S. multiple times for business, and police received a tip in September that he may be engaging in criminal activity.

According to police, Pridgeon returned to Maryland, where he booked a hotel in Frederick on Oct. 21.

Detectives learned he had arranged to meet with someone he believed to be a minor for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity. He was arrested without incident shortly after he left the hotel.

He was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.
