Company Behind Jeff Bezos’ Superyacht Just Revealed A Priceless Work of Art

  • The yacht is inspired by lilypads and has an asymmetric design with overlapping decks.
  • Advanced monocoque construction creates unprecedented spatial flow and innovative architectural concepts.
  • It uses a cutting-edge energy transition platform for a potential 100% methanol fuel transition.

Superyachts have always been the ultimate symbol of luxury and excess, but the industry has officially entered its “why not?” era. Dutch shipyard Oceanco, which is already a favourite among billionaires for creating vessels for Jeff Bezos and Arthur Blank, has thrown out the rulebook once again with its latest concept, Project Lily.

Lily concept was revealed at the Dubai International Boat Show last month and isn’t just another floating mansion. It’s a completely new definition of what a yacht can be. It has an innovative asymmetric design and an energy system that could make traditional fuel obsolete.

Design Philosophy Where Nature Meets Technology

The 331-foot yacht design was developed in collaboration with Vripack and Lateral Naval Architects, and takes its inspiration from lily pads because even billionaires appreciate a good botanical reference. But this isn’t just an aesthetic gimmick. The asymmetric structure gives the yacht an organic, almost weightless presence on the water, while large windows and extensive glasswork blur the line between inside and outside.

Paris Baloumis, who is the group marketing director at Oceanco, emphasised this vision, and said, “Lily is a testament to what’s possible when design meets advanced construction and engineering.”

Cutting-Edge Tech and Ultimate Comfort

Lily welcomes the people via an elegant elevator and stepping stones across an actual lily pond. Inside, the yacht’s design philosophy becomes even more mind-blowing, with the owner’s suite alone covering 450 square meters. The area also has complete privacy thanks to curved one-way glass that lets you admire the view without anyone peering in (because we all know how nosy the ocean can be).

For guests, the yacht has nine staterooms, with each covering 538 square feet — larger than most city apartments. The staterooms offer a mix of intimacy and extravagance with their 13-foot-high leisure decks that have everything from a wellness centre to a pool deck and even an entertainment space.

And then there’s the bridge or lack thereof. Instead of the classic forward-facing windows, Lily relies on a high-tech virtual bridge which is created by using digital screens and cameras and provides captains with real-time navigation visuals. Traditionalists need not panic, though, because there are still balconies on the port and starboard sides for an old-school, wind-in-your-hair moment.

If you are thinking, “Sounds amazing, but what about the kids?” then you don’t need to worry because Lily has that covered too. The superyacht has a suspended children’s playroom accessed by its own private bridge (because why shouldn’t little ones have a VIP entrance?).

And then there’s the big game-changer: Oceanco’s Energy Transition Platform, which hints at a future where superyachts could run entirely on methanol, cutting out traditional fuels completely. In short, we can say that Lily isn’t just a yacht but an architectural statement and a glimpse into the future of ocean travel.
