Deadly Strike Hits Odesa Hours After US-Ukraine Sign Minerals Deal
At least two people were killed in a drone strike on Odesa, Ukraine, in the early hours of Thursday, May 1, just hours after the United States and Ukraine signed a long-awaited minerals deal.
Five further people were injured in the attack, which damaged residential buildings, private homes, a supermarket, a school, and cars, according to Suspilne News.
Footage released by the the head of the Odesa Oblast Autonomous Region, Oleg Kiper, showed the damage to a number of buildings with emergency personnel helping people evacuate and douse flames.
The strikes came just hours after Ukraine agreed a deal with the US to share profits from the future sale of its mineral and energy reserves.
