Deputies perform life-saving CPR after Bills practice
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 70-year-old woman is in stable condition after receiving life-saving CPR following the Buffalo Bills’ Return of the Blue and Red practice at Highmark Stadium on Friday night, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Officials said that reserve deputies John Klingesmith and Greg Daniel noticed a woman leaning on a railing around 7:40 p.m. Klingesmith performed CPR with fellow reserve deputy Bernie Kowal before rescue crews also responded and assisted with CPR until the woman’s pulse returned.
The woman was then transported to Mercy Hospital of Buffalo.
“Thank God for the professionalism and training of our deputies, the EMTs and physicians on scene at Highmark Stadium. They are all heroes,” said Erie County Sheriff John Garcia in a statement. “Please consider learning CPR. None of us know when we might need this important skill.”
This is the second time in the last eight months that deputies performed life-saving CPR at Highmark Stadium. On Dec. 22, 2024, a 61-year-old man received CPR during the first half of the team’s game against the New England Patriots.
