DP World Tour revealed today a new performance-based prize initiative named Course Record in collaboration with Nexo. The prize initiative will commence tomorrow, 7th August, and run through to 10th August in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Trump International Golf Links, inaugurated by President Donald Trump with Nexo’s co-founders on July 29, will host the championship. According to Nexo, a digital asset wealth management firm, the Course Record will grant $10,000 for top record holders in the tournament maintained throughout the event period. An additional $50,000 will be issued in Nexo tokens to players who break the course records during the championship.
Jamieson & Carry handcrafts the Nexo Championship Trophy
Nexo revealed that the Course Record prize is conditioned to be issued if a record is broken; however, if no record is broken, the prize will be rolled over to the next eligible event. The Course Record prize would be incremented by $10,000 in the subsequent event. The prize will be eligible for tournament participants only, plus atleast 36 holes closed for weather-affected events. The championship winner will be awarded the Nexo Championship Trophy, which has been exquisitely handcrafted by the local jewellers Jamieson and Carry, signaling a bespoke symbol of heritage and Scottish craftsmanship.
The previous records hold ten records achieved in 2024 and six in 2025. Antoni Trenchev, Nexo Co-Founder, noted the Course Record prize as the first one-of-a-kind award set to recur annually. He added that it combines athlete performance-driven incentives with digital asset innovation, which forms the DP World Tour and Nexo’s shared vision for innovation in the professional golf arena.
Ben Cowen, Chief Tournament and Operations Officer at the DP World Tour, also commented that the prize was created to reward top performance and increase awareness. He acknowledged Nexo for supporting the initiative and extended his best wishes to the participating players.
Aberdeen hosts the $400 million Nexo Golf Championship
The course opened on July 29, in a gala celebration hosted by President Donald Trump, and Nexo’s co-founders were in attendance. The organizing committee believes the tournament would benefit Aberdeen economically through tourist attractions and the golf season. The Golf season reportedly generates more than $400 million annually for Scotland’s economy. The Golf Course Record initiative will run until the end of the season for the DP World Tour Championship and begin again in 2026.
Last month, Nexo was named the Official Marketing Partner and Official Digital Wealth Platform of the DP World Tour until 2027.
