The biggest story in America this week has to do with a couple’s questionable behavior at a Coldplay concert. It has gone viral to the point where it received attention on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” this Friday.

On Wednesday night, the kiss cam at Coldplay’s concert in Boston showed a middle-aged couple enjoying what appeared to be an intimate moment. Once they realized the spotlight was on them though, they quickly moved away from each other.
Coldplay singer Chris Martin was a bit shocked by that reaction. He said, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
Although it hasn’t been confirmed, social media users are convinced Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and his colleague Kristin Cabot were the two people in this video. Cabot was hired by Astronomer in 2024.

“At Astronomer, our people are the most valuable asset in helping our customers do more to gain a competitive advantage with their data,” Byron said in a press release. “Kristin’s exceptional leadership and deep expertise in talent management, employee engagement, and scaling people strategies will be critical as we continue our rapid trajectory. She is a proven leader at multiple growth-stage companies and her passion for fostering diverse, collaborative workplaces makes her a perfect fit for Astronomer.”

Some people loved this stunt from Striewski and Scott. Others, however, found it to be incredibly corny.
“Recycling jokes that have already been beaten to death with no hint of originality? Sounds pretty on brand for ESPN,” one fan declared.
“Notice how corporations always ruin funny trends,” a second fan commented.
“This is too much,” a third fan wrote. “Trying to be relevant…that story didn’t have a thing to do with sports but here they are.”

“There was a reason why I stopped watching SportsCenter,” another fan said.
Striewski and Scott are two of the most charismatic “SportsCenter” anchors, so it’s not a surprise to see them poke fun at this situation. For what it’s worth, they’re not the only ESPN members who have commented on this Coldplay fiasco.
ESPN analyst Mina Kimes had this to say on Thursday: “First the It’s Complicated @TheRewatchables and now this. (Bill Simmons voice) Are boomer affairs having a moment?”

Do you think ESPN missed the mark by letting Striewski and Scott comment on this alleged affair?
