Powerball prize winning ticket sold at Hornell Wegmans. Here’s how much it’s worth
The Hornell Wegmans store sold one winning third-prize ticket in the Wednesday, Aug. 27 Powerball drawing, New York Lottery said Thursday, Aug. 28.
The prize-winning ticket − worth $50,000 − was purchased at the Wegmans store located at 1000 state Route 36 in Hornell.
The winning ticket picked up in Hornell was not the only Aug. 27 Powerball winner in New York state. Smoke 4 Less in Newburgh, N.Y. also sold a prize-winning ticket worth $50,000, according to New York Lottery. Meanwhile, a Crosby’s in Lakewood, N.Y. sold a second-prize-winning ticket worth $1 million.
Winning the Powerball third prize requires matching four of the five white ball numbers, plus the red Powerball.
If someone had matched all five numbers and the Powerball Wednesday, they could have chosen a one-time cash payment of $388.8 million.
