Fatal crash on Ohio Turnpike results in second fatal crash less than 1 hour later
MILAN, Ohio (WJW) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating two separate fatal crashes that happened on the Ohio Turnpike in Erie County on Sunday morning.
According to a press release from the OSHP, the first crash happened around 6:40 a.m. when an International 4300 truck was heading east went off the roadway and hit a tow truck that was stopped on the shoulder of the road with its emergency lights on.

The driver of the truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mercy Health – Lorain Hospital. The passenger of the truck, 32-year-old Dantrail Reeses, was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.
The second crash happened around 7:35 a.m. east of the Frailey Road overpass in the traffic backup from the first crash, the release said.
According to the release, a Toyota Sienna hit a Peterbilt 389 tractor-trailer combination. Both the driver, 56-year-old Hongwei Wang of Chicago, and the passenger, 56-year-old Zhangli Liu, of the Toyota were pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.
The driver of the Peterbilt was uninjured.

The roadway in that area was closed for three hours while the scenes were cleared.
Both crashes remain under investigation.
