The wreck involving a semi-truck and a vehicle took place around 11:10 a.m. near mile marker 200 past the Monroe Street interchange. Traffic is backed up to mile marker 197.

Traffic camera photos show a semi truck and dump truck in the roadway with emergency vehicles stopping a long line of traffic. The traffic jam comes as the city’s annual Springtime festival brings tens of thousands to the capital city.

An FHP spokesperson, Corporal PJ Shaw said the incident was a “semi vs. a vehicle with the semi across both lanes.” There was also a report of the cab of the truck on fire. As of 12:10, traffic is moving slowly in one of the eastbound lanes. Traffic was also bring diverted at mile marker 199.

Details are still coming in, but Shaw said the semi driver sustained injuries in the crash, but they are not classified as life threatening. Sand trucks have also been called for a diesel spill on the scene, and a wrecker is en route to remove the semi-truck.
