Is Solana Dead and Ethereum The New Bitcoin? Crypto Experts Predict

Top crypto assets are showing highly interesting price action.

Ethereum is leading the broader market rally, with experts calling it the new Bitcoin. SharpLink Gaming Chairman Joseph Lubin told CNBC on Saturday that ETH’s market capitalization could flip Bitcoin’s within a year, citing aggressive buying from ETH treasury firms.

Meanwhile, BTC itself is showing consolidatory price action, though it did break out above the $120k resistance on Monday and is likely waiting for a cool CPI print on Tuesday to form new all-time highs.

On the contrary, prominent analysts have adopted a pessimistic view of Solana. With SOLBTC and SOLETH trading pairs showing weakness, it is likely that the Solana price continues to underperform in the coming weeks.

It now looks increasingly likely that Bitcoin, Ethereum and its ecosystem coins, XRP and low-cap cryptos like Bitcoin Hyper will continue to be among the top crypto gainers over the coming weeks.

Will Ethereum Outperform Bitcoin In 2025?

The Bitcoin price displayed much-needed bullish strength on Monday, breaking out above the $120k resistance.

Experts aren’t necessarily bearish on BTC in the short term. In fact, popular trader Ali Martinez reveals that the MVRV Extreme Deviation Pricing Bands indicate that the Bitcoin price could hit $133,000 next.

However, there is considerable evidence to suggest that Ethereum will likely continue to outperform BTC, at least in the short term.

Prominent analyst Crypto Chase has called Ethereum the new Bitcoin, highlighting that the aggressive buying from treasury firms and inflows into the spot ETFs have made it a better money-making bet.

ETH Treasury firm SharpLink Gaming’s Chairman Joe Lubin went a step further in his CNBC interview, claiming that ETH will flip BTC’s market value within a year.

While Lubin’s projection might be a stretch, the ETHBTC trading pair is showing significant strength and will likely continue to trend higher in the coming weeks. The Ethereum price could potentially hit a new all-time high in August itself and hit $10,000 this year.

Is Solana Dead?

Solana isn’t dead. However, it will likely underperform other large-cap cryptos in 2025, including Ethereum, Bitcoin and even BNB and XRP.

Both SOLETH and SOLBTC pairs are showing weakness.

However, experts shouldn’t ignore a clean breakout above the $200 resistance and should allocate a small portion of their portfolio to it.

Low-Cap Crypto Bitcoin Hyper Could Be A Dark Horse Investment

Besides the large-cap crypto assets, low-cap gems are also in high demand. Both smart money investors and retailers are hunting for small-cap cryptos that could eventually turn out to be the next big thing, delivering somewhere between 10x and 100x returns.

Bitcoin Hyper (HYPER) is one such buy. A new BTC Layer-2 coin, HYPER, has already raised nearly $8.5 million in its viral presale.

Bitcoin Hyper aims to tackle the scalability, programmability and performance concerns associated with the Bitcoin blockchain, opening up the adoption of payments, DeFi and even memes on it.

Instead of increasing costs by reinventing the wheel, this new project uses the cutting-edge Solana Virtual Machine and zero-knowledge proofs to reduce network congestion, improve scalability and address security concerns.

The strong demand for HYPER isn’t surprising. Layer-2 coins have high upside potential, with many reaching multibillion-dollar valuations. For instance, Bitcoin’s Stacks and Ethereum’s Arbitrum and Optimism all have a peak valuation of over $4 billion.

Unsurprisingly, many experts are bullish on Bitcoin Hyper’s growth, with some even anticipating up to 100x returns from it.
