Will the sun ever shine? Thunderstorms, rain possible Tuesday in Columbus, NWS says

Your regularly scheduled rain will proceed as planned Tuesday.

After a week of almost non-stop rain and storms, Columbus is in for even more wet weather the evening of Tuesday, May 6.

What time will it rain Tuesday in Columbus?

Showers and thunderstorms will be possible after 5 p.m. Tuesday. Later, there will be a slight chance of showers between 10 p.m. and midnight, according to an NWS forecast.

Ohio’s capital city has seen severe storms, record-breaking rainfall, and thousands of power outages over the past ten days. And despite the calendar flipping over to May, when humanity is promised flowers, the April showers persist.

The forecast does promise some sunny weather as the week turns into the weekend. Here is what to expect from the weather later this week.

Columbus weather for the week of May 6, 2025

• Today: There’s an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m. The high will be near 64. There will be wind gusts as high as 21 mph. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch will be possible.

• Tonight: There is a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m., then a slight chance of showers between 10 p.m. and midnight. It will be mostly cloudy with a low around 54. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, except higher amounts could be possible if it thunderstorms.

• Wednesday: It will be partly sunny with a high near 73.

• Wednesday Night: It will be mostly cloudy with a low around 52.

• Thursday: There is a slight chance of showers before 11 a.m., then there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., then finally there is a slight chance of showers after 2 p.m. It will be partly sunny with a high near 65. The chance of precipitation is 20%.

• Thursday Night: It will be mostly clear with a low around 40.

• Friday: It will be sunny with a high near 68.

• Friday Night: It will be mostly clear with a low around 41.

• Saturday: It will be sunny with a high near 75.

• Saturday Night: It will be partly cloudy with a low around 51.

• Sunday: It will be sunny, with a high near 80.

• Sunday Night: It will be mostly clear with a low around 53.

• Monday: It will be mostly sunny, with a high near 81.
