Moore gas station owner says they never agreed to asphalt work before chaos broke out
MOORE, Okla. (KFOR) — New details have unfolded concerning a supposed asphalt deal gone wrong that News 4 first told you about Tuesday.
Workers intentionally pushed a huge pile of asphalt up against the front doors of a Moore gas station, trapping the owners inside.
This happened after an apparent disagreement between the store and the paving company.
However, after speaking with the store’s owner, she tells us there was no deal at all between the two.

Instead, she says it was a plan to try and extort them out of thousands of dollars.
“It happened so fast, we couldn’t do anything,” said Lisa Hoang, owner of OK Stop in Moore.
Something that seemed too good to be true, was. Hoang says on Tuesday afternoon, Done Right Paving came by saying they had extra asphalt, and could pave their parking lot at a low price.
“We need to know in advance how much is the cost, and he say he just have a little left over asphalt and it wouldn’t cost much to us,” Hoang said.
She says before they knew it, a crew with a truck load of asphalt started getting to work without agreeing to anything.
“30 minutes later, they finished overlaying the parking lot, and he told me, now it’s $12,000 for the installation cost,” Hoang said.
Once they refused to pay, that is when Hoang says things became hostile.
“When he realized we won’t pay, he rushed out the door, used the equipment to scrape the whole parking lot back and forth, a big chunk,” Hoang said. “They pushed it up against the front door, trapping our family inside the business. We were so scared.”
Sadly, this isn’t the first time this has happened in Oklahoma.
“It’s something that we are aware of,” Larry Patrick, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Asphalt Paving Association said.
Patrick says they represent 95% of the asphalt companies in the state.
He told News 4 it is not uncommon to see out-of-state companies try to do this.
“These individuals will come in, go to an asphalt plant, and they’ll buy a dump truck load of asphalt and they’ll pay cash,” Patrick said. “Then they just go out roaming around trying to find an individual or somebody.”
He says they see this happen every few years.
“Usually they’re from up north,” Patrick said. “It’s still too cold to do anything up there, but they’ll come down here and kind of prey on some of the Oklahomans here in the state.”
The company that did this, Done Right Paving, is based out of Montana.
Since Tuesday, News 4 has been calling and emailing them, but have not heard back.
Moore police say they are still investigating, but Hoang wants to make sure others know about this before it’s too late.
“We will press charges and hopefully the police can get those guys arrested,” Hoang said. “We also thank you, Channel 4, for spreading the story, so that nobody will be the victim like our family.”
There is some good news, a local paving company saw our story Tuesday and have spoken with Hoang about fixing the mess in her parking lot.
They plan to do it on Monday for a low price to get it looking brand new again.
