LANCASTER — After a cloudy and rainy end to spring, extreme heat is predicted to scorch the Midwest next week, including Ohio, marking a hot start to summer on June 20.
The National Weather Service says the heat wave will continue to persist across the Ohio Valley until July 1, bringing the possibility of record highs.
A heat wave is headed toward northern Ohio.
Here is the forecast for the next five days starting on June 20 in Fairfield County, according to the NWS:

Friday will be sunny and have a high near 84 and a low near 65 at night

Saturday will be sunny and have a high near 89 and a low near 69 at night

Sunday will be sunny and have a high near 93 and a low near 72 at night

Monday will be sunny and have a high near 94 and a low near 73 at night

Tuesday will be sunny and have a high near 94
The NWS warns that this level of heat can be hazardous to those without effective cooling and/or hydration, especially those participating in outdoor activities.
