“We are here to welcome these heroes (who came back) from Strasbourg, to greet them. Kudos to all they have done. Generally, these students are a total amazement for me, they are like bees, they have their own rules and they push their cause to the end.”
The cyclists had covered 807 miles (1,300-kilometre) on their trip, calling for awareness of the protests which had started in Novi Sad and spread around the country.
Serbia has seen months of anti-government rallies after 16 deaths from a railway station roof collapse in Novi Sad last November triggered accusations of widespread corruption and negligence.
