Rain showers and thunderstorms return to San Diego this Sunday

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The rain isn’t going away just yet in San Diego.

Saturday, San Diegans were able to enjoy a brief break from the showers and thunderstorms that hit the county last week, but the rain returns on Sunday.

What Thursday’s lightning storm looked like in San Diego area

On Sunday, the coast and inland valleys have a 20-35% chance of rain while the mountains and deserts will see a 30-40% chance of showers.

The wet weather will drop as much as 0.10″ of rain along the coastline, inland valleys and deserts through Monday night.

Meanwhile, the mountains could get between 0.25″ – 0.50″ of rainfall.

On Monday, rain chances die down, but not for long.

Tuesday expect more rain showers and thunderstorms across the county with potential for lightning, erratic winds and choppy seas.

That instability in the atmosphere will disrupt our marine layer inversion, meaning cloud cover will gradually decrease by the beaches.

As low pressure pulls up tropical moisture, temperatures will cool down below seasonal averages.
