This Jacob & Co. Tourbillon Is Out of This World

The following article was produced in partnership with Hardy Brothers.

Some watches tell time. Others tell stories. The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone Tourbillon from Jacob & Co. is one of those rare creations that can manage to seamlessly capture both, with the kind of emotional depth and mechanical ingenuity few brands dare to attempt.

When Jacob Arabo was just 13 years old, he received a dual-time world map gifted by his father. This priceless gift, whilst cherished by Arabo as a family heirloom, would later inspire one of Jacob & Co.’s most personal creations. That original gift contained a message from a father to his son: The world is yours. Go out and claim it. Now, decades later, that message returns with an even greater sense of purpose, and with it, the first evolution of the collection that carries its name.

The Jacob & Co. Calibre JCAA4 Is the Centrepiece

At its heart is an extraordinary feat of mechanical watchmaking: a central tourbillon rotating once every 30 seconds. It’s twice the speed of a conventional tourbillon, housed beneath a sapphire bridge that seems to float above a three-dimensional compass rose.

This decorative motif is undoubtedly the centrepiece of the entire design, but also serves as the beating heart of the Calibre JCAA4. Inside, this piece includes a platinum micro-rotor, 65 hours of power reserve, and a remarkable architecture that keeps the tourbillon perfectly balanced in the centre of the world it represents.

The dial itself is domed, blued, and laser-sculpted from titanium, depicting a curved map of Earth. Its two sub-dials, angled at 64 degrees, represent two independently set time zones – not just local and home, but any time, anywhere. From Paris and New York to Nepal and Newfoundland, even the trickiest of global offsets are accounted for. Even continents not visible on the dial are printed in gold across the sapphire caseback.

Limited Edition, Available at Hardy Brothers

Limited to just 199 pieces, this exquisite piece measures 43mm in rose gold, but wears with an elegant profile thanks to its fluid curves and recessed crown. At the centre, the height rises to over 18mm, a necessary feature to accommodate the tourbillon’s elevation, giving the watch the look of a globe swelling with life.

For Jacob Arabo, The World Is Yours began as a father’s gift. For the men who now wear it, it becomes something else entirely: an heirloom waiting to be given, a world waiting to be shared.
