This national fast food chain closes multiple Kansas City area locations. Here’s where

California-based fast-food chain Jack in the Box has closed three Kansas City locations in the past month.

The lights are off at 17280 W. 119th St. in Olathe, 808 Missouri Route 7 in Blue Springs and 951 NE Sam Walton Lane in Lee’s Summit.

Chris Brandon, vice president of investor relations and spokesman for the company, told The Star he’s “not aware” of any plans to reopen them.

“We hope this will only improve our ability to deliver great food and service to our Jack in the Box fans and customers throughout the Kansas City area, and we look forward to continuing to do so,” Brandon said in a statement.

Brandon said the three restaurants were “underperforming” but no more are expected to close in the Kansas City area. The restaurant serves burgers, shakes and fries.

The chain has closed several in the St. Louis area over the past few years. Its sister company, Del Taco, appears to be struggling, reporting a 4.5% quarterly sales decrease and shuttering restaurants across Denver.

Despite this, Jack in the Box seems to be staying afloat — reporting a .4% sales increase in the first quarter of 2025.

Jack in the Box still has five restaurants in the area: 9101 Johnson Drive in Merriam; 10317 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park; 211 S. 18th St. in Kansas City, Kansas; 10630 Parallel Parkway in Kansas City, Kansas; and 14000 E. 42nd St. S. in Independence.
