Trezor launches a new exclusive wallet in limited edition

Yesterday, Trezor announced the launch of an exclusive wallet in limited edition.

This is the Trezor Safe 5 Freedom Edition, which will be available starting Thursday, January 30.

Trezor Safe 5 Freedom Edition: the new limited edition hardware wallet from Trezor

Trezor is a renowned manufacturer of hardware wallets.

The new Safe 5 Freedom Edition is part of a limited edition of only 2,100 numbered pieces.

The device comes in a “Liberty Bronze” color to reflect the ideals of independence and self-sufficiency, and with a special engraving that states: “Independence is not given – it is taken”.

The sale will begin at 15:00 UTC on Thursday, January 30, 2025, and for each device sold, €10 will be allocated to the Trezor Academy to promote education on Bitcoin and foster financial independence in underserved regions.

The limited edition is part of a broader company awareness campaign that emphasizes the importance of claiming personal independence, with particular attention to financial sovereignty.

The cost will be 169$, which is the same as the Trezor Safe 5 standard.

The initiative of Trezor

The initiative of Trezor aims precisely to raise awareness among crypto users about the critical importance of claiming personal independence and their own financial sovereignty.

To highlight this message, the company has collaborated with well-known supporters of Bitcoin who are having a global impact through education and empowerment, and together with them, it has created a video that reaffirms the individual’s right to independence:

The video featured Lina Seiche, the creator of The Little HODLer, who uses art and humor to explain the basic concepts of Bitcoin to make them accessible to people around the world, Isabela Santos, co-founder of Get Based and the Mexican community BTC isla, who educates the public on Bitcoin’s potential to transform financial systems, and Nikolai Tjongarero, founder of EasySats in Namibia and organizer of the Trezor Academy, who supports the adoption of Bitcoin throughout Africa.

The hardware wallets

Hardware wallets are commonly considered the safest way to hold and use cryptocurrencies.

They have in particular two key characteristics.

The first is that they are non-custodial wallets, meaning they allow the user to exclusively own the private keys to use them. This way, the user does not have to entrust their funds to anyone at all, although on the other hand, they must take responsibility for carefully safeguarding the seed used to generate the private keys.

The second is that they protect the private keys at the hardware level, thus preventing anyone from accessing them. The user obviously will need to use a password or a PIN to be able to use the device, and will need to keep the seed that is used to create the private keys, but at least in this way the private keys are not available online in any way.

Trezor: leading hardware wallet company

Trezor was the first company in the world to produce and market a hardware wallet.

The peculiarity of its devices is that they use open source code, which therefore allows anyone to verify their operation.

It was founded in 2013, and in fact paved the way for the development of self-custody of crypto assets.

Subsequently, the company’s activities have been expanded, creating an entire ecosystem of hardware and software products that help protect users, from beginners to the most experienced.

Furthermore, in 2023 it launched its Trezor Academy initiative to educate grassroots communities across the African continent on safe participation in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Trezor is part of SatoshiLabs, a technology holding with various interests in crypto companies.

Leaders’ comment

The Head of Brand of Trezor, Anusha Schindler, stated:
