Trump Supporters Are Revealing How They’ll Vote In The Midterms, And I Was Not Expecting Most Of These Responses

Many people online have expressed their regret after voting for Donald Trump because of how his policies have personally impacted them. So we asked people in the BuzzFeed Community who voted for Trump to tell us if they plan to change course and vote Democrat in the midterms.

Doing so could flip the party majority in Congress, weakening the president’s ability to pass potentially controversial laws.

We received a wide variety of responses. Here are a few of them:

1.“I am on social security disability, and my wife is on Medicaid in a nursing home. I voted for Trump, but now Medicaid cuts are being brought up, and Trump said he wouldn’t touch Medicaid or Medicare. He said on day one he’d lower grocery prices, but he didn’t. His tariffs are going to ruin the economy. I’m voting Democrat now.”

2.“I voted Democrat, but I love what Trump is doing, and he needs his hands untied for the remainder of his term. Voting Republican.”

—Anonymous

3.“I have always been a voter of Donald Trump since he entered the presidential race in 2015. He has evolved and adapted, and this is the best he’s been. Almost being assassinated made him more humble and relatable. I will only vote for common sense Republicans and not far-left lunatic liberals who hate this country.”

4.“I’m voting Trump and Republicans now and in midterms. No way in hell I’d vote for a Democrat. They destroyed America.”

5.“I voted for Trump, and it has become one of the biggest mistakes of my life. I’m embarrassed and ashamed of myself. I will not declare who or what party I will vote for. You can bet I will do my due diligence thoroughly this time.”

6.“My vote won’t change. But you won’t share that because you’re only looking for left-wing responses.”

7.“Voting Democrat because I love our country, which is for the people, of the people, and by the people. Much of what is happening under the current administration runs parallel to how Hitler came into power. We should learn from history.”

8.“It won’t change! I agree with everything that President Trump is doing. I am sick and tired of the wasteful and corrupt government of the past four years and the previous eight years before President Trump’s first term. I’m not ashamed to say it.”

9.“I don’t trust the GOP. I’m changing to Independent! I will never vote Republican again!”

10.“It won’t change. Democrats have made it impossible to vote for them. What is going on is correct. Trump is right. The federal government is ONLY supposed to govern the states, and the states are responsible for governing the people. Thus, they have to shut down all the agencies that were created to govern the people, and give power back to the states.”

—Anonymous

Fact-check: The rights granted to the federal government are limited by the 10th amendment, “which states that ‘[t]he powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.'”

11.“I approve of what Trump and his administration are doing. An audit of the government needed to be done a long time ago, and illegal criminals need to be removed, along with those who were told by courts to leave and those who refuse to go through our process of becoming legal citizens. No trans men in women’s/girl’s sports. No more wokeness and DEI programs as they are forms of racism and do nothing but divide us.”

“I don’t like how my tax-paying money has been spent. We need to take care of our country first. Then, once we’re strong again, we can help others. I don’t understand why some people don’t agree with all these things. I will be voting Republican or Independent depending on what they stand for.”

12.“It won’t change, and you know that you are doing this just so you can claim that a whole bunch of people will change their vote even though only Liberals use this site. SAD!!!”

13.“I’m NEVER, ever again going to vote for Trump or anyone else in the conservative party!!”

—Anonymous

14.“As someone who considers myself an Independent, I have always voted for who I felt the best candidate was. I have never been faithful to a party or a cult, as many like to call it. Liberals call MAGA a cult, and MAGA calls them a cult. This was the first election in which I voted straight-ticket Republican. As long as Liberals control the Democratic party and they are full of such hatred, I will never vote Democrat again.”

“It will be a long time before I will feel like I can trust a Democrat. People can sling all the accusations and arguments they want in front of me. I’m tired of people refusing to own what they do wrong and just pointing fingers. Remember, when you point your finger at someone, you have three pointing back at yourself. I am sick of the name-calling, the racial division, and the destruction of property when people don’t get their way. I swear some people were not disciplined as children, and it shows.”

15.“As a former Republican, I’ve since denounced the party and am now an Independent. I’m planning to vote for Democratic members of Congress for the foreseeable future in hopes of somewhat restoring this chaos.”

16.“Will never vote Democrat!! Trump is doing what needs to be done and what he was voted in to do!! It’s only been three months; give him a break.”

17.“I will continue to vote Republican in the midterms. People are afraid of the changes (good and bad) due to everything seemingly taking a negative turn. People take things too personally, plus rumors keep everyone nervous.”

“Eventually, all will begin to smooth out, and we will begin to enjoy security in all aspects of our lives. It’s only been three months, people. It took the Biden administration eight years to destroy the US, so recovering will take time. Or maybe some grew comfortable with the prior administration’s not-so-great policies and cannot wrap their minds around sound, give-back-to-the-people policies.”

24.“I will still vote Republican. I don’t want the country to go back to the way it was. The country was on its way down, under the Democrats. I can’t believe anyone can’t see how bad it was. They changed this country for the worse. God bless the US, it sure needs it. This president is for peace not wars!!!”

32.“If the Democratic Party that exists now is still present at the next election, I will NOT vote Democrat. Why? Because they are completely hypocritical. Every complaint, every charge they press against the Republican Party is in THEIR OWN PARTY. Do they want me to believe they are better? Then, they need to ACT better.”

“At least with the Republican Party, I know what I’m getting, for better or worseAlso, just to clarify, Republican does NOT equal MAGA. There are plenty of Republicans who don’t swing that far.”

33.“I absolutely intend to vote Republican, as President Trump is doing exactly what he said he would. By the way, grocery and gas prices are going down. Don’t misrepresent the facts with your obvious bias.”
