United Airlines announced this week an important change for people traveling to certain parts of Asia.
The major airline, based out of Chicago, Illinois, is set to add more flights for people traveling to certain parts of Asia. The airline is working with the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) to figure out a new flight that will connect the country with Southeast Asia.
The new flight will reportedly link Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City, via Hong Kong, according to a report from Travel and Tour World this week.
The new flight will begin in late October 2025. The flight will be using United’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
It’ll officially launch on October 26, 2025 and connect Hong Kong International Airport to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport and Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.

Beginning on October 26, 2025, United Airlines will begin operating daily flights from Hong Kong International Airport to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport and Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. These flights will depart from major U.S. hubs, Los Angeles and San Francisco, enhancing connectivity for travelers seeking direct access to Southeast Asia.
These services will be operated using United’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which are designed for long-haul flights with optimal passenger comfort. The aircraft features 257 seats in a four-class configuration, offering luxurious business class, premium economy, economy plus, and economy class seating. The modern Dreamliners are well-suited for these long distances, ensuring a smooth and comfortable journey.
United’s decision to utilize fifth freedom rights is strategic, providing U.S. passengers a direct route to two of Asia’s most dynamic cities. This move underscores the airline’s commitment to expanding its presence in Southeast Asia, where tourism and business travel have surged in recent years.
